Windfest is an awesome event. I went for the first time last year and have now since moved to Poole where it is held, this is now my local event which is always handy when the parties are as wild as they are.
This year was a more relaxed affair for myself as we were not doing demos this year so I got a chnace to enjoy the event for what it is.
On the Friday night is the Blacktie & Boardshorts ball. It is pretty much as the title says, you go dress smartly but instead of trousers & Shoes its boardshorts & flipflops! This was a pretty full on night and lots of drinking with the King of Watersports crew!
After a morning spent recovering from the night before we headed down to the beach in the afternoon., The weather did not seem great but this did not dappen spirits and the event was very busy. The BKSA was able to run so the freestyle competetion so I helped out and judged. It was a good comp, the riders went for it in the tricky cross of conditions with the win going to Ned Taylor.
Saturday evening was the Rubix theme party. The idea is to go in the 6 rubix colours and change to one colour. I was not planning to do it but as the drink started to flow the clothes started to come off! I soon managed to get changed to Green with my girlfriend Sarah & Jamie from Red Bull both able to get to completely white! Just as the party ended it bucketed it down and left everyone soaking wet! BUT what a party! The windfest party will always be special as its where I met my Girlfriend. It was a great anniversary! Roll on next years!
Sunday morning we both felt right as rain, no idea how after the alcohol abuse the night previous! The wind was up so we headed down to the beach. It was slightly offhsore but perfect 9m weather so I pumped up the Hadlow pro and went out for a session. The wind was very up lifty so managed to boost so fair size jumps, no means the biggest I’ve done but all good fun none the less!
Another great Windfest, and for once it had plenty of wind! All sports managed to run full competitions and allow people to participate in all the activities! Some thought without Animal backing it, it would not be the same, I would have to say it seemed better. There seemed to be more going on with a wider variety of sports & brands! Well done to the Windfest Crew!
