Well the 2010 season has begun, with this being the first round held in Redcar! With the van loaded to the brim with kites me & lewis roadtripped it from mine at 3am on the Friday morning. We pulled into the morrisons car park at 8am just in time for it to open and have breaky in the cafe!

After the much needed food we headed down to the event site and met up with everyone! With this being the first round its been months since we had caught up & ridden with everyone!
Karl from Flexi was up and with the van loaded with Ion 5's we pumped them up on the beach as the wind was light we chilled out hoping
During the day the wind swung round and a sea breeze kicked in. Myself & Lewis went out for a bit of a land session to demo on the beach as some TV & local press had come down. It was nice and just enough to get some decent airs & tricks. Craig from Blue juice did abit of filming. After a short land session I went out on the water and had a bit of a session on the Ion5 12.5. The wind dropped of quite quickly and after a crash needed the jet ski to help me get back to shore!

Saturday the wind was pretty light in the morning but again it sea breezed enough to be able to session and it was called that the Buggy Freestyle would be running. The format for the competition would be individual heat each riding to best then top 2 riders going through to the final. In my heat managed a few backlog kite loops, 2 wheel transitions, several aerial 540's and 1 720 with other tech tricks which got me through to the final.

In the final I was against last years champ & fellow team rider WIll Mckean, in the heat we both went with it but in the conditions it was more suited to tech tricks which is my fortay and was able to walk away with the win! I was pretty stoked as it was a great way to start the season off especially as last year was injured for start of season.

That night we went to Ogrady's pub for food & drinks which then lead to lots of drinking games before moving into town into the bars and clubs! I think the night ended quite well and i think other did too! It was defiantly a night we wont forget for a while & a great way to start season party off!
Sunday morning, well with only a few hours kipped seemed like Saturday rolled into one was again light wind and not great! but with us still feeling rather drunk it wasn't such a bad thing! The wind didn't come through so it was messing around on beach, water fights and what not!

Mid afternoon prize giving was called and once this was over everyone made their way home, well everyone but us! The Van decided not to start so the RAC were called and before long a tow truck was called ot get us home! Now some have taken the mick about this, but what they forget to realise is they arrived home an hour or so before us & we got to sleep all way home while they had to stay awake & Drive! Good way to deal with a hangover!!
