Atmosphere 09 - 29.06.09

Well it seems as if a couple of news stories have been forgotten about and have been sitting on my PC and not been uploaded to my site.

Atmosphere 09 took place over the weekend of the 24th-26th of April. I was working in the Flexifoil main office in London at the beginning part of the week so didn’t start my traveling down till Wednesday when I stayed round a friends in Swindon. We went out for a fly on the Wednesday Evening but sadly not a lot of wind so we just grabbed some pizza’s and had a chilled evening.

Thursday morning I made my way down to Westward Ho! for a pre event session, sadly the wind wasn’t that strong and having just picked up the final Blade V protos I was eager to get on the beach and give them a thrashing!

Evan though the wind was light it was still good fun, just messing around on the beach with people I had not seen in a while. I could have done with the 8.5 but the V 6.5 was such good fun on the ground I wasn’t too worried about getting the slow monster that is the 8.5 out in marginal winds.

That evening we hooked up with all the crew and chilled out on the beach with a takeaway. Great start to the event.

Friday morning, the official event started. Sadly the wind was similar to the Thursday and not to strong and slightly offshore. Again opted for the V 6.5 to get use to and get some feedback on the kite. The wind gusted through at points and meant some jumps were possible. My back was not overly comfortable so I took it easy through the day.

That evening we went down to Bradics to enjoy a few drinks and chill out with everyone who had arrived during Friday.

Saturday morning I woke with a pretty uncomfortable back, the wind was nuclear and the weather was not great so I didn’t put a kite up the whole day! Some went over to Saunton and others stayed local and went out on 8.5 ions. As much as I wanted to ride body was telling me otherwise!

Saturday night we started with a few drinks at Bradics before heading into bideford for a heavy night of drinking! What a night, we got everyone out and turned into a great social event.

Sunday we woke to no wind, and with us all feeling slightly rough it didn’t matter to much. We headed to beach after some Bacon butties cooked by Wills mum! Thank you! We put some kites up but nothing was done apart from messing around. I packed up and headed up to Swindon for the evening after a nice event.

Monday Morning made the drive back to the Flexifoil office and then later traveling home.

Big thanks to Will's Parents for allowing us to stay at his house and look after for the weekend! Thank you!
