Big Air River Jumping - 19.04.08

The layout of our beach, the strong tides, and the estuary always means the lay of the land is different.  This particular day a large puddle from the estuary separated the hard sand patches. The puddle was a good 20-30m big and a few feet deep, something that you would not want to land in for sure.

The puddle had a good hard strip before it so you could gain plenty of speed, which was most certainly needed to clear it! The shape of the puddle allowed you to practice the jump so that you could easily clear it.

Throughout the session we worked up to the full width of the puddle and fully equipped with the 6.5 Blade easily cleared it at some height! It was sweet how much speed, height & distance we were covering in each of the jumps. When you have dunes on the beach directly downwind, which are a few feet high and dip down behind, and you can see over them is a sweet feeling.

We wanted to trick over the puddle but needing so much speed meant that throwing a rotation in would slow you down and then probably not clearing the puddle. Trying on the smaller puddle and only just clearing it meant I was not going to try the large puddle in the middle of winter!
