Brighton Kite Fest - 15.07.08

On the Tuesday leading upto the event we recieved a call from Matt @ Flexifoil asking us if we would like to go to the event. We had nothing else planned for the weekend so decided to make plans and head down to it.

We set off at around 6am on the Saturday morning to get to the event, stopping off at Tescos on the way near the M25 crossing for some much needed breakfest. The roads were very quiet and we arrived not long after 9.30.

As we did not have a marque we put some kites and made a small Flexifoil stand consisitinng of Atom 08, Ion Three, Blurr & the recreational kites.

The wind was not great and not ideal for teaching to fly in so we both gave trick kiting ago, it was a good laugh in the light winds and made for some amusing fun.

In the afternoon we did go into the arena but the wind was so light we could not do much apart from go up and down & a few ground tricks.

After the event had finished we took a quick drive down to Goring and had a little session there. This was sweet, the wind was a solid 20mph cross shore! Ideal for the 6.5. I took it out and instantly began popping big jumps, kiteloops & rotations. Considering we were not expecting to get a session it was very nice!

After an hour the wind switched off shore so we headed back to the Hotel & got some food at the local bugger king.

Sunday morning we woke to similar conditions but still made our way to the event. There was a little bit more wind on site, but this did not matter as Sean from the Highwayman had set a tow rope on the car and was doing downhill buggy races with a lift to the top! This was bloody good carving through the wooded area out onto smooth grass at some speed!

We set up the stand again and taked to people who were looking at the products. As the wind was slightly stronger we took some people over to the flying area and gave them ago on the kites.

In the afternoon we did a demo in the arena and this time we had some wind so do some jumps & show what it was all about.

It was a good event with a very high public turnout!
