Quiberon Roadtrip 2009 - 08.08.09

This year was the second time I have been to the Flexifoil Testzone in Quiberon West France. Each year Peter Vanden Busche invites members of the Flexifoil crew to head over for a weeks camping, relaxing and kiting.

Waiting at Dover.

This year I headed over on my own as a of a last minute pull out from Sy Leonard. To make the drive easier I planned on going down in convoy with the flexifoul europe crew who were coming down from belgium. The ferry docked around 10pm local time, with a 6-7 hour drive ahead I made my way down the motoways. Around Midnight i met up with the crew and we continued the drive down. We arrived around 4am so after seeing the sunrise we all headed to get some sleep.

Wednesday morning we woke and set up camp for the week and hooked up with Will, Dave, Frayz, Shaun and Bernd (German Flexifoil Nut) and his partner. The wind didnt come through in the morning but in the afternoon we got a nice buggy & landboard session on the beach using the New Blade V's which we had to get photos of.

Not leaving the beach till 11ish through up a problem, what to do for food!?! We luckily found this small locals steak house which was so nice and a bloody lucky find!

Thursday was prety much of the same chill out and then session. We drove round to another beach as the wind has switched direction but it was not enough for water but enough for a buggy session into the evening. The evening was spent with a BBQ & beers at the campsite

Friday was the start of the epic wind! We all got to kitesurf in the lagoons around the campsite which was so nice to enjoy butter flat water. This was then joined by and afternoon/evening buggy session on the beach.

Getting some serious height!!

Saturday we all woke up later so headed to beach for a kitesurf. The wind was onshore and really smooth so it was all good. We soon got playing on the 14.5 Ion FOur and before long we had 7-8 handle pass leashes attached to the back of a harness and were getting pulled up a good 30-40ft. EPIC! is the only word to describe it! Not recommended as it could go wrong badly!

That evening we had a BBQ on the beach watching the sunset!

Sunday was the last main day. We went for another session on the lagoons around the campsite which was good fun indeed! We still had to get a few more pictures of some of the products so we went down to the beach to get those final few shots.

Not long to go now!!

Monday was spent traveling back. We left at 11am and arrived at 9pm! Luckily the surf club was still open so spent some time & few drinks with the locals who had also been with us!
